La necesidad a la que el proyecto pretende responder*
In the past three years, the amount of animals abandoned in England and Wales increased by 51%, according to the animal welfare charity (RSPCA)*. As a response to this, we will tackle the two main issues surrounding abandoned and stray animals which align with Almo’s RECommunity schemes: Adoption Programmes Stray Prevention *SOURCE: BBC News Report on the RSPCA, November 2024 (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c14ldrl24yro)

Descripción del contenido del proyecto en resumen
The majority of Protected Paws’ budget is taken up by veterinary costs. This project aims to equip a small medical centre that would provide specialist care, carried out by our knowledgeable and experienced rescue team, consisting of volunteer Veterinary Surgeons, Veterinary Nurses and experienced support staff. This would allow us to vastly reduce the costs of our core work, which addresses both adoption programmes and stray prevention.
Resumen de los principales resultados esperados
Protected Paws’ calling card is accepting animals in the greatest need. Consequently, our per-animal medical costs are extremely high. If we can independently examine animals and treat minor complaints with volunteer medics, it will significantly reduce our overhead costs and ultimately enable us to assist more animals.Additionally, once we are established, we hope to be able to extend care to other charities’ animals.
