Project Title: Complex and Emergency Veterinary Treatment At the Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home (CDCH), we care for hundreds of animals each year—many of whom arrive through RSPCA sign-overs and seizures, having suffered severe neglect, abuse, or medical emergencies. These vulnerable animals often require urgent, complex, and costly veterinary care to survive and recover. Our Complex and Emergency Veterinary Treatment Project ensures that no animal is left untreated due to financial constraints. While our on-site clinic provides basic care, such as vaccinations and health checks, more serious cases are referred to our trusted partner, Vale Vets. They offer 24/7 emergency support and handle complex diagnostics, surgeries, and critical treatments that are beyond the scope of our in-house capabilities. In 2024, we took in 339 animals, including 168 from RSPCA welfare concerns and 16 prosecution cases. Many of these animals faced untreated injuries, chronic illness, and the devastating long-term effects of neglect. With veterinary costs expected to exceed £100,000 in 2025, we are seeking funding to help cover this vital area of our work. This project directly improves animal welfare, reduces suffering, increases adoption rates, and gives neglected pets a second chance. It also ensures we never have to turn away an animal in need due to lack of funds. Your vote and support can help save lives. At project completion, we expect improved health outcomes for animals, particularly those rescued from neglect and abuse. The funding will enable timely, life-saving treatment, resulting in higher recovery rates and increased adoption success. We aim to reduce the length of stay for animals, ensuring they are ready for rehoming sooner. Additionally, the partnership with Vale Vets will allow us to manage complex and emergency cases, providing a critical lifeline for vulnerable animals in need.
