We have always been deeply committed to protecting our fellow animal inhabitants and preserving biological diversity.
Almo Nature's main shareholder has played a decisive role in the company since its inception, with a focus on pursuing non-financial goals through the implementation of concrete projects for the protection of animals and biodiversity. When Lorenzo and Pier Giovanni Capellino transferred Almo Nature's capital to the "Fondazione Capellino," the commitment to non-financial goals was significantly strengthened.
By-laws grounded in the ethical principles of the "Fondazione Capellino" were adopted, leading to the company's legal status being changed from an S.p.A. (joint-stock company) to a "Benefit S.p.A.".
Since 2018, all revenues, after costs and taxes, have been allocated to the projects of "Fondazione Capellino," which is the sole owner of Almo Nature.
On June 10, 2019, "Fondazione Capellino" received a positive response from the "Agenzia delle Entrate" (the Italian tax authorities) regarding the request submitted in November 2018 for the precise and correct tax classification of its business activity. On June 28, 2019, Pier Giovanni and Lorenzo Capellino signed the deed of donation, with retrospective effect from January 1, 2018, allowing the first dividend to be paid to the Foundation as early as July 2019. Almo Nature Benefit S.p.A. is 100% owned by "Fondazione Capellino," an independent, non-profit philanthropic entity.
The reserves are derived from the investment objectives necessary to maintain and develop the company over the next decade and are shared with the Foundation, the sole shareholder since June 28, 2019.

Benefit corporations combine the traditional profit-making purpose with the objective of generating a positive impact on society and the environment, declaring this commitment in their corporate bylaws. Through the benefit corporation model, companies are offered a radical proposal for a paradigm shift regarding the ultimate purpose of doing business: from economic return for a few (the owners) to a commitment to the wellbeing of many, of the entire community.
Almo Nature was among the first Italian joint-stock companies to decide, in 2018, to become a benefit corporation, modifying its corporate purpose and formally including in its bylaws the pursuit of public benefit alongside profit.
To fulfil its benefit mission, Almo Nature:
- directly manages the Companion for Life project (direct benefit)
- financially supports the implementation of the Fondazione Capellino projects
aimed at protecting biodiversity (indirect benefit).
The reintegration economy model goes even beyond the vision of benefit corporations, further raising the bar of the purpose of doing business by directing 100% of profits (after costs, what is necessary for business continuity,
and taxes) toward the general interest rather than the enrichment of ownership.
