A Companion Animal Is For Life, a project that is designed to give every dog and cat a home and promotes responsible ownership, has been running full speed ahead in the past four months, helping shelters and animals across Italy, Germany, The Netherlands, and France, and we thought it would be a great idea to present an illustrated overview of what the project has achieved thanks to every cat and dog who enjoys Almo Nature food:
Aided 230 associations facing emergency situations
The project aims to help shelters that find themselves in difficult, unforeseeable, and unexpected situations, has helped a total of 230 associations in the past four months. One of the amazing shelters we’ve helped is SOS Hundehilfe Prignitz in Germany. This unique shelter was founded in 2012 and is taking care of both cats and dogs. Besides finding a new home for every animal that comes in, SOS Hundehilfe trains dogs with behavioural problems and allows dogs with a terminal illness to spend their remaining days in the shelter’s grounds. The shelter also doubles as a guesthouse for companion animals, providing temporary accommodation and care when their human companions can’t take care of them for a short period of time, such as a hospital visit or an unexpected business trip.
Trained 70 shelter volunteers
One of the goals of the A Companion Animal is for Life project is to assist shelters in their efforts to increase the number of adoptions in a responsible way. In the past four months alone, we provided tutoring to 70 volunteers, helping them with the necessary knowledge and skills in order to train dogs with behavioural issues in such a way that they can be adopted. It can be difficult to find a new home for healthy dogs that show problematic behaviour due to PTST or anxiety from past experiences, but with the right care and handling, they can be the perfect companion. When volunteers know how to approach and train these dogs, they can make a real difference in the lives of these animals that would otherwise be left in the shelter for their remaining days. Since running the program, 90 dogs have been trained successfully , and 9 of them have been adopted.
Delivered lots of meals
During the past four months, we’ve delivered 354.475 meals to dogs and we helped to get 1,423 cats and dogs adopted. Follow us on Instagram or Facebook to see some of the happy faces who found a new home through the shelters we support.
