What is the mission of the Fondazione Capellino?
By becoming a company that is ‘owned by the animals,’ Almo Nature, through the actions of the Foundation, will:- better represent all those who share the same values
- become an instrument that will allow the views of pet owners and those who care about biodiversity to count more
- be a new model that will improve the quality of life, nature and the people who work with usThe Foundation will have its own projects, will participate in third-party projects and will manage the projects already established by Almo Nature (an agreement between Almo Nature and the Foundation will regulate this aspect). In fact, the projects developed under Almo Nature’s aLmore initiative (described below), will be the first projects managed by the Foundation.
What are the current projects of the Foundation?
A Pet Is For Life is a European project with the ultimate goal of reducing the number of abandoned dogs and cats and set rules for responsible animal ownership at a European level. There are three ‘actions’ currently operating under the A Pet Is For Life: LoveFood, AdoptMe & RespectMe.Farmers&Preditors is our project with the ultimate goal of harmonising the relationship between wildlife and farmers, so biodiversity becomes an opportunity to improve quality of life. There are two ‘actions’ currently operating under the Farmers&Predators: Reduce The Conflict and A Possible Alliance.
What does it mean to be this new kind of company in the pet food market?
Our main interest is to produce the best food for cats and dogs. We want pet parents to know they are feeding their pets in a better way, while also knowing all the profits will be returned to the animals and nature. We are not here to profit from animals. We are not here to profit from pets. Our mission is to be totally different than any other company in the market. We are free!
Is the quality of the food and the price going to change?
No, the quality of the food, its production and price will not change. The only thing changing is who benefits: moving from a private interest to a public one.
Almo Nature is a pet food producer that now wants to protect animals through the Foundation. Isn’t this a contradiction?
The donation of Almo Nature to a Foundation, whose purpose is to protect the biodiversity – and, therefore also the animals – will not solve all the problems nor will it completely overcome the contradiction, but it is part of an ongoing process of change. If you are a builder and not a destroyer, you will know that effecting true change in complex situations such as biodiversity protection, requires time, hard work and personal sacrifice. Ambition and creativity are not enough.Furthermore, humans can live a perfectly healthy life without eating or using animals. However, cats are strict carnivores and require meat in their diets, and dogs, which possess carnivorous traits (their teeth, digestive systems and behaviours), are considered opportunistic carnivores, meaning they are primarily meat eaters but can supplement their diets with food from other sources. So, a pet food made using vegetables and no meat is simply not feeding them according to their nature.
Who will own Almo Nature?
The Fondazione Capellino will be the only owner of Almo Nature.Almo Nature will not serve a private interest but will serve the interest of the animals by developing a new business model for the company. Almo Nature will, in fact, be owned by the animals (becoming the property of dogs, cats and animals, in general).
Who will own the Fondazione Capellino?
The Foundation will have no owner. It will respond to public authority through its board of directors. Our founder will be entitled to be a member of the Board for life. The foundation will not distribute benefits to any private individual, and in the event of dissolution of the Foundation, its assets will become the property of the State.
Who will run the Foundation?
The Foundation will act following the rules reported in its own statute under the management of the Board and will operate in absolute transparency, being open to the scrutiny of the general public and public authorities.Every year, a clear and certified balance sheet and the results achieved will be published.
How is the Fondazione Capellino financed?
All the profits (dividends) accrued since 1 January 2018 and all assets belonging to Almo Nature will be donated to the Foundation.
It is just for tax purposes?
Not at all. We want nothing more than to invest money to protect cats, dog and biodiversity. Every single expense will be reported and justified.Scepticism is a negative, and unproductive, way of thinking; those who are not convinced will remain so until they see it with their own eyes. Our choice is for the reasons described - taxes have nothing to do with it (we will continue to pay them exactly as before). This is not a marketing ploy but the creation of a new model of being and acting. Our actions and our transparency over time will prove the sincerity of our words.
How can I be a part of the Fondazione Capellino?
We act imaging a world where humans respect all animals and nature.
If you are of the same viewpoint, we welcome your suggestions on how to improve what we are doing today.
Is this a marketing strategy?
It would be if Almo Nature had created a Foundation to dedicate only PART of its profits to good causes. This is not the case: here all of Almo Nature is being donated to a Foundation, therefore, 100% of profits go to the Foundation. From speculative capitalism to solidarity capitalism... today Almo Nature is solidarity capitalism.
